3LA.ai makes AI visibility, SEO, and content optimization accessible, actionable, and future-proof — one conversation at a time.

3LA.ai is created by Nickolass Jensen, from the Norwegian digital agency Nettpilot. He has been working with online traffic generation and marketing online for more than 25 years — since before the year 2000 — running his own agency since 2004.
Since 2010, Nickolass has been a subcontractor for some of the biggest and most award-winning digital agencies in Norway, and a trusted advisor for several Norwegian brands. Roles have spanned web analyst, Google Ads expert, UX redesign advisor, and SEO specialist.
For 5 years he was Country Manager in Norway for the British SaaS SEO platforms Analytics SEO and Authoritas, handling SEO software for a wide range of Norwegian agencies and brands.
With decades of experience — from the early days of basic websites to today's AI-powered search landscape — Nickolass has seen every shift in how people find information online.
We built 3LA.ai because we noticed something: businesses were getting excellent SEO reports and doing nothing with them. They needed more than data — they needed a friendly guide to explain it and a creative partner to fix it.
That's why we created Ulf and Pippa — your AI-powered team that makes AI visibility simple, actionable, and actually fun.
A deep dive into why AI visibility is the new SEO, and how the Three-Layer Approach came to be. Soon also available in English with David Bain from SEO in 2026.

Here's the thing: most SEO tools only care about Google. That's not enough anymore.
Your content needs to work for three different audiences:
Is your content clear, engaging, and easy to read? Does it solve real problems?
Can Google understand and index your content? Is it technically optimized?
Can ChatGPT, Perplexity, and Gemini find and recommend your content?
Why this matters: more people ask AI for recommendations instead of Googling. If your content isn't AI-friendly, you're invisible to a huge and growing audience.
We didn't build generic AI tools. We built a team with distinct personalities, strengths, and expertise.
THE ANALYST
Ulf is your patient, knowledgeable guide through AI visibility and SEO. He explains complex topics in simple terms, remembers your entire conversation, and never judges your "basic" questions.
The smart colleague who always has time to explain things properly.
THE CREATOR
Pippa turns insights into action. She creates AI-ready content in seconds, asks smart questions before making assumptions, and optimizes for all three layers at once.
The creative teammate who gets things done — fast.
The magic? They work together seamlessly. Ulf finds the problem. Pippa fixes it. One click connects them.
You shouldn't need a technical degree to understand your audit. We explain things in plain language that actually makes sense.
A perfect audit that sits in your inbox is worthless. We help you actually implement the changes that matter.
Google is still important, but ChatGPT, Perplexity, and Claude are changing how people find information. Your content needs to work for both.
We've been doing this for 25+ years. When you need help beyond what AI can provide, our senior specialists are here to back you up.
Start with a free audit and see what they can do for your website.
3LA is the Three-Layer Approach platform from Nettpilot AS, developed by Nickolass Jensen with over 25 years of experience in SEO, content strategy and web development. It brings human readability, search structure and AI-readiness into the same editorial workflow. The aim is to connect a concrete finding to a reviewable change, rather than produce another score with no next step.
Separate what a page contains from what a search engine indexes and what an AI model actually says. Keep model answers, source URLs and reporting periods available when interpreting a result. We use this distinction to make product claims and recommendations easier to verify.
Every aggregate in the platform ships with its sample size and confidence band. A placeholder is never presented as a measured fact. Audit scores are diagnostic assessments, not observed citation rates. The platform clearly distinguishes between page readiness and actual AI model behaviour — because the difference matters for editorial decisions.

3LA stands for Three-Layer Approach — a methodology and platform that evaluates content across Layer 1 (human readability), Layer 2 (search-engine access) and Layer 3 (AI citation readiness).
Yes. The framework, GEO guide, glossary and whitepapers are published openly. The platform tools require an account, but the methodology is transparent and documented.

FROM THE BLOG

AI visibility tools answer three different questions. Is my site built so AI can read and trust it? How often does AI mention me? Is a change in those mentions real? Classic SEO suites answer the first question only partly. Daily trackers such as Peec AI and Profound answer the second, across many engines. The Three-Layer Approach (3LA) answers the first with deterministic structural scoring and the third with repeated sampling and confidence intervals. Most teams need more than one of these. The useful thing is to know which question each tool is actually answering.

Want your brand to be preferred and cited by ChatGPT, Perplexity and Google AI Overviews? This guide walks you through setting up 3la.ai in under an hour, so you can close visibility gaps, optimise your content and compete in AI search (GEO).

BrightonSEO's 10th anniversary edition, held October 8–9, 2026 and drawing roughly 4,500 attendees, was dominated by one theme: GEO (Generative Engine Optimization), AI citations, and agentic recommendations. For anyone building on the Three-Layer Approach, this wasn't new information - it was confirmation.
